Dear All,
On behalf of the IFCC SD Committee on Molecular Diagnostics in Infectious Diseases (C-MDID), please find below an invitation to participate in the C-MDID Survey:
Dear Colleagues,
Carbapenem-resistant bacterial pathogens continue to pose a serious and growing challenge for patients, healthcare systems, and public health worldwide.
A key element in controlling their spread is the reliable molecular detection of carbapenemase genes, which enables rapid implementation of infection-control measures and supports targeted therapeutic decision-making.
To better understand the current status, needs, and practices of clinical laboratories in this field, the Committee on Molecular Diagnostics in Infectious Disease (C-MDID) of the IFCC is conducting an international survey.
Our goal is to gain insight into how laboratories perform molecular testing for carbapenemases, which methods are used, and where potential obstacles or unmet needs exist. Your experience and expertise are essential to building a meaningful global picture.
The survey takes approximately 5–10 minutes to complete and is available in English, French, and Spanish:
We kindly ask for your participation by 7th March.
Please complete the survey and feel free to share it with colleagues in your country who are involved in the molecular genetic diagnostics of carbapenemases.
Your contribution will help strengthen international diagnostic standards and ultimately support more effective antimicrobial resistance control. It is anticipated that the findings of this survey will be published and support the measures for quality assurance for molecular detection of carbapenem-resistant bacteria.
Thank you very much for your valuable support.
Dr. Denise O’Sullivan
Chair of the Committee on Molecular Diagnostics in Infectious Diseases (C-MDID)
